Yoga Workshop: Build Strength To Ease Pain (available as online video recording)
In this workshop we experiment with ways of adding “Load” to your body during your yoga practice to increase both strength and flexibility over time. The philosophy behind this work is that by increasing strength-building practices within the context of a creatively varying yoga practice, we can harness the surprisingly effective pain-reducing benefits of strengthening muscles, tendons and even bones!
You will learn how to introduce strength-generating adaptations into your teaching in a calibrated way to support each of your students’ individual needs. If students can build this kind of strength-focused yoga into their practices early-on, it can provide a beneficial modality for maintaining strength and integration of the body over time. This work can be particularly beneficial to students over the age of 40 as a way to balance the natural decrease in muscle mass, balance and endurance that can occur.
